WELLENLAUFER

GROUND HANDLING

Again this boat is "over built".

It has a new 1000-watt Ideal windlass that would be well fitted to a 45 ft, 20,000 lb. boat.  The windlass has a combination chain/rope gypsy AND an independent rope captain.  The gypsy can be released so that the capstan can be used without changing tension of the anchor or moving the chain. There are full controls on the bow and a remote at the cockpit.  This windlass is strong enough to routinely raise the anchor from the cockpit while controlling the boat with the motor and the rudder.  Very handy when single-handing in a rough and/or crowded anchorage.

Her primary anchor is a 30 lb. plow mounted on a self-launching anchor roller with around 200 ft. of 5/16" chain.

The secondary anchor is a 50 lb. European "Danforth" with around 200 ft. of chain and another 200 ft. of 5/8" rope.  Between the main hull and the port ama is a second anchor site and roller.
