The aluminum mast is about 47 ft and is on a deck mounted tabernacle that can be winched up or down. It has 4:1 end of boom sheeting. With double preventers, dedicated winches and cleats and a winch controlled topping lift, sail down-tension is easily controlled. I don't think a vang would be useful.
The headsail is mounted on a new (2001) Italian roller furling. Again that line leads to the cockpit.
The headsheets are run through cabin-top mounted cars and track to a pair of #40 2 speed self-tailing Italian Barbarosa winches. All winches were disassembled and greased in 2001.
Winches and Clamps: There are 6 Danish made "EasyLock" rope clamps on the port side of the cabin top backed by a Barbarosa #40 two speed winch and 6 cleats for sheet and halyard handling. There is an elaborate multipoint single line reefing system equal to Harkins.
There are 3 more of these on the starboard side of the cabin top with a #16 2 speed Lewmar winch and 3 cleats.
